NBA Fantasy Rankings 2026: Top Players, Sleepers and Draft Strategy

The New York Knicks are the reigning NBA champions after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 Finals, and the fantasy basketball landscape has shifted dramatically heading into the 2026/27 season. LeBron James — now with the Philadelphia 76ers — has reshaped the Eastern Conference. The 2026 NBA Draft delivered immediate-impact rookies led by No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa to the Washington Wizards. And the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster trade has reconfigured the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster and depth chart. For managers preparing their NBA fantasy draft rankings for the 2026 season, here is where the value lies at every stage of the draft.

First-Round Locks: The Untouchable Tier

Victor Wembanyama enters his third NBA season as the consensus No. 1 overall pick in fantasy drafts. His per-game averages in his sophomore campaign — points in the mid-20s, double-digit rebounds, elite block numbers, and improving three-point range — make him the most complete fantasy asset since peak Anthony Davis. Luka Dončić remains the safest pick in the top three, with usage rates and counting stats that have not wavered since his rookie season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo (now in a restructured Milwaukee offense), and Jayson Tatum round out the top tier.

The key question at the top of the draft is what to do with Nikola Jokić. His per-game value remains elite, but the Nuggets’ depth has improved and his minutes may decline slightly as Denver manages his workload for the playoffs. He is still a top-five pick in any format, but the gap between Jokić and Wembanyama has narrowed to the point where age and durability tip the scales toward the 22-year-old Frenchman in dynasty and keeper leagues.

Mid-Round Targets: Players Who Will Outperform ADP

Bennedict Mathurin enters his fourth season as a full-time starter for the Indiana Pacers, with head coach Rick Carlisle confirming the role after Tyrese Haliburton’s Achilles injury. Mathurin posted a 22.9% usage rate last season and that number will climb significantly as Indiana’s primary offensive option. His steal and block rates are below average, but the volume scoring, three-pointers, and free-throw percentage make him a top-60 player with top-40 upside.

Reed Sheppard is the sleeper pick that analytics-heavy managers are targeting. The 2024 No. 3 overall pick was buried on a deep Houston roster as a rookie, but offseason changes — including veteran departures — have cleared a path to 27-plus minutes per game. His college profile suggested a high-assist, high-steal guard with efficient shooting, and his projected stats of 13 points, 4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game would make him a top-80 fantasy asset available outside the top 100 in most drafts.

Rookie Watch: Dybantsa, Boozer, and Acuff

AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick, lands in Washington with a clear runway to 30-plus minutes and high usage from day one. His combination of size, athleticism, and developing shooting makes him a top-60 fantasy pick with the highest ceiling among rookies. Cameron Boozer, selected second, brings a polished offensive game to a team that needs scoring. Darius Acuff to the Sacramento Kings may be the best fantasy rookie in redraft leagues — the Kings’ backcourt situation is wide open after the departures of Haliburton and De’Aaron Fox, and Acuff’s 44% three-point shooting at Louisville translates immediately. Rookie fever is real, but the fantasy value lies in opportunity as much as talent. Dybantsa and Acuff have the clearest paths to heavy minutes, and that makes them the rookies worth reaching for.
